Course Descriptions

Course Type:
J-STD-001 Space Addendum for CIT
This course provides additional requirements over those published in IPC J-STD-001E to ensure the reliability of soldered electrical and electronic assemblies that must survive the vibration and thermal cyclic environments getting to and operating in space. Only CIT's who have successfully completed the J-STD-001E Certification Course can attend. Note: This class can provide certification for either CIT and CIS.
IPC-A-600 Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) Training Program
The CIS program is modularized to allow for maximum flexibility in meeting individual training needs. This training will familiarize the student with IPC-A-600 “Acceptability of Printed Boards” document to include the general requirements of the specification and related documents, the difference between the classes of product, and define the acceptance criteria for various conditions.
J-STD-001 Certified IPC Trainer (CIT) Recertification (Space Addendum Included)
CITs are certified for 2 years and must attend a 16-hour recertification class to maintain their certification status. CITs will have the opportunity to review the content of the standard in its current revision as well as discuss any clarification of intent resulting from Technical Committee activities. Testing and workmanship samples are required for successful recertification. This course also provides the Space Addendum, addressing additional requirements that are required to ensure the reliability of soldered electrical and electronic assemblies that must survive the vibration and thermal cyclic environments getting to and operating in space. Only CITs who have successfully completed the J-STD-001F Certification Course can be certified.
IPC J-STD-001 Certified IPC Trainer (CIT) Recertification Program
CIT's are certified for 2 years and must attend a 16-hour recertification class to maintain their certification status. CIT's will have the opportunity to review the content of the standard in its current revision as well as discuss any clarification of intent resulting from Technical Committee activities. Testing and workmanship samples are required for successful recertification.
IPC 7711/7721 Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) Rework/Repair and Modification Certification Program
The CIS class is modularized to allow you to choose only the classes your company needs. This is a hands-on course. Module one is mandatory and consists of Common procedures. Modules 2-9 consist of; wire splicing procedures, through hole component removal and installation, chip and MELF rework procedures, rework of SOIC/SOT components, J-lead and QFP rework, printed wiring board circuit and laminate repair, conformal coating removal.
IPC-A-610 Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) Certification Recertification Training Program
The CIS program is modularized to allow for maximum flexibility in meeting individuals training needs. This program includes the Introduction and modules 1 through 9. Upon completion of this class, students will be familiar with the IPC-A-610 acceptability criteria for all three classes of products and be able to apply this criterion to internal quality functions.
MSFC/NASA 8739.4 Cable/Harness Certification Course
This extensive hands on course teaches the trainee the processes and techniques for cable and harness assembly, crimp connections, wire stripping, wire routing, tying and lacing per the Marshall Space Fight Center standards. This class also covers solder splices for joining insulated wires. Note: This course is acceptable to Marshall Space Flight Center contracts only.
MSFC/NASA 8739.1 Staking and Conformal Coating Certification Course
This course covers the requirements for staking and conformal coating per Marshall Space Fight Center standards. Staking and Conformal Coating coverage requirements, defects, and inspection criteria will be covered in great detail. Students will have 8 hours of actual conformal coating lab time. Note: This course is acceptable to Marshall Space Flight Center contracts only.
IPC J-STD-001 Certified IPC Trainer (CIT) Certification Program
This class provides skill-based training regarding soldering practices and processes as covered in the J-STD-001 and its companion documents. CIT's are qualified to teach Certified IPC Application Specialist (CIS) training and certification programs.
IPC/WHMA-A-620B-Space CIT Recertification
This addendum provides additional requirements over those published in IPC/WHMA-A-620 to ensure the performance of cable and wire harness assemblies that must survive the vibration and thermal cyclic environments getting to and operating in space.
